General description
In September 2013, MARLISCO launches a Video Contest targeting young people and their schools, in 14 European coastal countries. More details on how to enter coming soon!
Why?
MARLISCO Video Contest encourages and facilitates young people to get in touch with the issue of marine litter in the European Seas and share their visions with the broader public.
Students are invited to develop and produce a short video (max 2 minutes) in which they express their views about the problem of marine litter and become agents of change in society – not only as they represent the next generation of consumers and decision makers but because they are often elements of inspiration and influence in their family and community.
This challenge will promote critical thinking and active citizenship in young people, regarding a complex problem that is responsibility of and affects every one of us.
For who?
We invite second level students from Transition year and upwardsto take part in this contest.
Where?
14 European coastal countries will join the MARLISCO Video Contest: Italy, Netherlands, United Kingdom, France, Slovenia, Ireland, Romania, Germany, Cyprus, Bulgaria, Spain, Portugal, Turkey and Denmark. The general framework of the contest is identical in all countries but aspects such as the target ages, jury and awards are defined at the national level. The participants should therefore consult the information and conditions applicable to their country.
Please note that the competition is carried at the national level ONLY and therefore participants will only compete with other participants from the same country.
When?
The video contest is timed with the beginning of the academic period 2013-2014.
The submission of videos is possible between 9th September 2013 (official launch) and 14th February 2014. The awarded videos will be announced at the end of March 2014.
And next?...
The videos will be testimonials of how European young people see the problem and possible solutions. They will become empowered as agents of change in society and their videos creative messages that will inform and inspire the broader public.
The most interesting videos will be actively disseminated in national and European media. The best videos from all the countries will be put together in a final film compiling the “voices of European youngsters about the issue of marine litter”, which will be premiered in May 2014, at a high level European event.
The winning Irish film will also feature at the Junior Galway Film Fleadh (November 2014).
